Verbatim ToughMAX USB Drive resists extreme environments for ultimate data protection

  Posted on March 7, 2018

The new Verbatim ToughMAX USB 2.0 Drive has been made with KyronMAX™ compounds, a metal replacement thermoplastic material which is able to withstand seriously punishing conditions and has been used in the most demanding of applications from fighter jets to mountain bikes.

KyronMAX™ compounds are manufactured by Piper Plastics which, like Verbatim, is a group company of Mitsubishi Chemical.  This incredible material has been adopted by many industries including aerospace, medical, industrial and automotive, and has a tensile strength to weight ratio that is higher than steel.

In creating the ToughMAX USB Drive enclosed in KryonMAX™ structural compounds, it can withstand:

  • Crush forces up to 2,250kg*
  • Water immersion to 30m depth*
  • Extreme temperatures from -25°C to 150°C*

“Verbatim is part of the Mitsubishi Chemical group of companies so is able to benefit from unique material technologies that have been developed by the company for other industries,” said Chris Chalder, business development manager for Verbatim’s flash and optical storage products.  “Although very light, KyronMAX™ compounds are extremely tough and provide a wonderful enclosure material that will resist virtually everything and keep your data safe from any physical damage to the drive.”

The ToughMAX USB Drive has a recommended retail price of €24,99 for the 64GB version (PN 49332), €11,99 for 32GB (PN 49331) and €9,99 for 16GB (PN 49330).
